Is eating cheese feeding your body positive nutrition or is cheese a very occasional pleasure food? 

Here's some info about how cheese is made:

Cheese is basically moldy milk.  Although not all Cheeses are exposed to mold; the others are exposed to chemicals. Those cheeses not made with mold are made by exposing Milk to rennens, which are made from an enzyme that comes from calves’ stomach linings, and acids which change the texture and curdle the milk. The liquid is drained off (whey) and the solids are preserved (cheese). 

Soft-ripened cheeses such as Brie and Camembert are made by allowing white Penicillium candida or P. camemberti mold to grow on the outside of a soft cheese for a few days or weeks. The mold forms a white crust and contributes to the smooth, runny, or gooey textures and more intense flavors of these aged cheeses. 

Goats' milk cheeses are often treated in a similar manner, sometimes with white molds (Chèvre-Boîte) and sometimes with blue. 

Blue-mold cheeses like Roquefort, Gorgonzola, and Stilton are produced by inoculating loosely pressed curds with Penicillium roqueforti or Penicillium glaucum molds. The mold grows within the cheese as it ages. These cheeses have distinct blue veins and, often, assertive flavors. Their texture can be soft or firm.   

Now, we know that most cheese is derived from milk and is either treated with chemicals or mold in order to be made. One of the biggest problems with cheese besides how it's made is what's in the milk that it's being made with. About one-quarter of cheese that's sold in America comes from cows treated with Bovine Growth Hormone (BGH). The FDA approved its use in 1995 despite findings from organizations like the National Institutes of Health and Physicians Commitee that revealed known health risks from consumption of cheese and dairy products.

Let's evaluate the positive attributes and the health risks of eating dairy: 

BENEFITS:

1. Vitamins:   

Dairy products, including cheese, provide vitamins A and D. Vitamin A maintains healthy vision, the immune system and red blood cell production. 

2. Minerals: 

Cheese also provides two important minerals, calcium and phosphorus, which support the growth and maintenance of healthy bones and teeth, and can lower your risk of developing osteoporosis. Calcium also plays a role in the health of your nervous system.

3. Protein: 

You need protein daily because protein is a part of every cell in your body. Cheese provides significant amounts of complete proteins, or all of the nine essential amino acids that you need for good health. Firm cheeses such as cheddar contain more protein than softer cheeses such as blue cheese. The human body only requires 46g for women and 56g for men of protein daily. 

4. Pleasure:

Cheese provides a delicious taste to most recipes. It makes most people very happy and it goes well with wine. 

HEALTH RISKS:

1. Cancer:

According to a study published in the "Journal of the National Cancer Institute," cheese and other dairy products may actually raise the risk of breast cancer. A study published in "Nutrition and Cancer" also came to the same conclusion. Other studies link cheese to lymphoid cancers and lung cancer. 

2. Digestive Diseases:

The Physicians Committee on Responsible Medicine warned in "The New York Times" that cheese can contribute to the development of colic, allergies and digestive problems. Past the age of 2 years old human beings don't produce enough of the enzyme lactase. 
If you do not have enough of the enzyme lactase in your gastrointestinal tract, you might have problems when you consume dairy products. Most people are told they  are lactose intolerant but the truth is that those who can consume dairy without a problem are lactose tolerant and the rest of the people are normal human beings. Aside from a little lactose, dairy can also cause some gut damage due to the way it inflames the gut lining. It’s one of the worst to cause and irritate leaky gut syndrome, which can lead to autoimmune disease and other health issues over time. Dairy consumption is known to cause issues such as bloating, constipation, diarrhea, or even long-term IBS. Many people who suffer from more serious disorders such as Crohn’s disease find that once they ditch dairy, healing naturally begins. 

3. Heart Attacks:

The Center for Science in the Public Interest warns that the consumption of cheese is giving heart attacks to many Americans because of its high-fat content.  


4. Cholesterol: 

Dairy and cheese can also contribute large amounts of fat, sodium and cholesterol to your diet. Between 15-30 percent of your daily calories should come from fat. The over consumption of dairy and cheese leads to too much fat or cholesterol which can cause you to gain weight, develop heart disease and develop certain cancers. The amount of fat in a cheese depends on the fat content of the milk that was used to make the cheese.  

5. Chronic Inflammation

Dairy is highly acidic, despite it containing high amounts of calcium that acts as an alkaline agent by nature. Milk is rich in natural acids that can cause calcium deposits to build up and potentially cause arthritis and long-term inflammation. It also doesn’t necessarily keep our bones strong as we once believed. Most plant-based foods do a much better job (such as chard, kale, almonds, figs) and don’t contribute to chronic inflammation.

Although cheese and dairy do have some beneficial attributes like vitamin A, calcium and phosphorus, it's quiet apparent that if we eat too much of it we are headed down the road to inflammation, cancer, heart diseases and many other digestive problems. 

There is no argument that cheese and dairy products are delicious but now that we know that the health risks far out way the benefits of eating dairy and cheese, how do we find the balance between feeding our body for optimum health while still enjoying the pleasures in food like dairy and cheese. 

Tips for balancing your nutrition:

1. Be honest with how much you're really eating dairy and cheese. Make it a special meal and something you will savor. Make it worth it and not just a habit. 

2. Buy from locally sourced farms who don't use hormones or chemicals in their dairy production 

3. Eat the real deal with full fat made from whole milks. The reduced fat, non fat or processed  versions of cheese are far worse for you than eating the full fat version because the processing to make it low fat or non fat adds more chemicals and health risks 

4. Use cheese alternatives like nutritional yeast or almond cheese which is healthy to give foods a cheese flavor for times you're eating for nutritional health and not pleasure 

5. Find ways to make your favorite cheese dishes without cheese so you can have them regularly and only occasionally with cheese. 

Being healthy means being aware and finding your balance in life and with food.  Knowing what our risks and benefits are with foods makes knowing what's pleasure food and nutritious foods easier. The more we know about nutrition the more our decision making about what we eat becomes an intellectual decision for our health and long term wellness. Peppers contain a chemical known as capsaicin, which is actually what gives peppers their hot properties. 2. Arthritis:

To me nobody had/has your finesse, your eye and that captivating style of play, I adore.  Your brilliance on and off the court is parallel to none.  You gave me and my dad something to bond over and excitement watching you together. Thanks for all the memories and Championships in my life because of you!

Why ketosis and high protein diets are not the long term answer for optimum health!




I believe that our diet should be 80% primarily raw, non GMO, chemical free and untreated whole fruits, veggies, legumes, beans, nuts and (cooked) grains with 20% being pleasure foods like processed foods, meat, eggs, dairy. That's the perfect balance and nutrition to live in optimum health. 

I was hit by a car while riding my bike. When my body doesn't get proper nutrition it spasms from nerve damage and has symptoms like stiffness, joint swelling and autonomic neuropathy on top of chronic pain. I feel the immediate negative affects if my body is deficient in anything or not being fed proper nutrition. I won't use pharmaceuticals. I use holistic nutrition. I use food, herbs and juices to reduce all of my symptoms and it works. 

It's been scientifically proven that nobody has ever become diabetic, over weight or disease ridden by eliminating meat, dairy, eggs and processed foods from their nutrition, they actually thrive.  They've even proven to beat cancer eating this way. I can reduce leg spasms with a juice.  It's crazy but it's proven to be true by what I can see with my eyes, that positively affects my life. Proper nutrition is only implemented for people with diseases once the disease develops. The goal is to eat in a manner that prevents the disease from developing in the first place. Eat to thrive and prevent disease not to look skinny. 

So, if you want bacon have it, once a month not once a week then you don't succumb to the inevitable. 

Eating fresh fruits, veggies, beans, and nuts is more nutritious and beneficial for the body than a diet including what's scientifically proven over and over again (processed foods/drinks, meat, dairy and eggs) to be the cause of cancer, heart diseases, cardiovascular diseases, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, erectile disfunction, high blood pressure, acid reflux, obesity leading to every other complication as well. 

Our society isn't taught how to properly eat. Sadly and shockingly, we are taught how to properly spend based on a pyramid of what our government, capitalism and industry wants. Health industry, medical industry, pharmaceutical industry, dairy industry, meat industry, fitness industry and our government want you to follow fad restrictive diets that lack proper nutrition. Those industries that primarily function on your ailments wouldn't exist to their magnitudes if we were all truly aware. The basic fundamentals of nutrition aren't taught. A diet that proclaims you don't need the benefits of fresh fruits and veggies first and foremost and puts an emphasis on eating anything else and promotes using synthetic supplements and shakes is restrictive and not proper nutrition. It's capitalism leading and targeting its consumers.  I was a victim too until I needed to actually heal my body from a major trauma and Ketosis diets and high protein diets like I used for years were exasperating my conditions. 

There are countless studies that confirm if you eat animal products, processed foods/drink with chemicals, meat, dairy and eggs you will end up with a major disease.  Just depends on what your body chemistry develops. 

Ketosis and high protein diets provides for a thin looking physique or a tool to stimulate weight loss that isn't meant to be a long term nutrition plan. You will have a thin appearance but not a body that will run on optimum health without disease for years. When you see the guy who's in perfect shape drop dead at 45 and nobody can figure out why. It's the continual lack of proper nutrition that shut down his bodies ability to function.

Tesla was quoted as stating that cancer can not survive in an alkaline environment. The diets spoken about above put your body in an acidic state making the kidneys have to over regulate the ph balance of the body. The continue strain of balancing ph and the acidic environment cause disease. Adding carcinogens to an acidic environment develops cancer. When you feed the body properly it doesn't have to strain and stress itself to operate properly. It's the stress oxidation and continual strain that causes the body to in essence malfunction. 

There is a plant based food for all your nutritional needs. You just need to learn what foods do what for you. When you look at your food you should be asking yourself. What does this do to feed my body. You can finds foods that provide all essential amino acids, proper nutrients, minerals, vitamins, proteins and carbohydrates. All plant based, all providing nutrition to feed the body to operate in perfect health without developing disease.  It's science. 

People who live to their 90s like Jack LeLane knew this and there is now a slew of plant based UFC fighters and many other professional athletes are switching to this lifestyle as well because it builds stronger muscles and also oxygenates the body amongst other things  to raise performance and endurance levels. 

Eat high protein, be in ketosis if you want there's always a chance you'll be the lucky one who won't develop anything but more likely the body you'll be left with won't have lubricated joints with healthy cartilage, your blood and lungs won't be able to 100% oxygenate, your skin won't be clear, your blood vessels won't have clear linings, your arteries will be clogged, your blood pressure with be high, your prostate will be enlarged, your dick won't be that hard, your cholesterol will be high, your bones will be brittle, your bone marrow will lower its ability to produce white blood cells, your immune system will be weak and you will develop cancer or another disease.  

None of that develops on an 80% plant based diet with only 20% being pleasure foods and alcohol.  It's the balance that prevents and treats disease while allowing you to responsibly enjoy the pleasures in life.

3 Spicy Chili Recipes from One Vegan Base recipe

Raw Earth Medicine: 
3 Easy Spicy Chili Recipes one Vegan Base

Vegan Recipe Base: 
2 c Kidney Beans
2 c Cannellini Beans
2 c Black Beans
2 c Chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
1 c Chopped White Onion
1 c Chopped Basil
5 oz Tomato Paste
1 packet @simplyorganicfoods Spicy Chili (⬅️keep on hand. No GMO or chemicals)
16oz - Water/Low Sodium Vegetable stock
(Add more liquid for desired thickness)

Sauté Onions in pot to soften a little 
Add water/stock
Add tomato paste
Bring to a boil then add remaking ingredients including spice packet 
Simmer for 5 minutes and serve 
You can dress this recipe any way you like it. 

1. Vegan: top with basil and chopped peppers and serve over mung beans and black rice 

- low in fat and calories paired with mung beans and black rice which are one of the highest sources of protein! There are No GMO's or Chemicals in this dish. This is a perfect healthy meal with no negative attributes that you can eat in abundance. 


2. Vegetarian: top with basil, tomato and fresh mozzarella serve over brown rice or mung beans and black rice

 - Mozzarella adds lactose, chemicals from processing and fat to the dish which will mildly alter the calories and health benefits of the dish. A well balanced healthy meal. 


3. Pleasure Food: 
add Grass Fed Filet Mignon with no hormones
Top with Cheddar Cheese, basil and spicy peppers serve over brown rice or mung beans and black rice 

- high in saturated fat, protein and calories with some chemicals from the processed cheese, this meal is a treat and should be eaten as such. . Over consumption leads to high cholesterol, heart disease and possibly cancer

Why I think taking pain and nerve medications is like giving up.

Pain

When do you come to the point in your recovery or ailment that you just accept that you will always be in pain? It's just your reality. Your obstacle to endure and persist to work through. Can we just accept that the repercussion from something has changed our whole life. How do we use our minds to move on to another level of comfort. Make our negative reality a positive. 

While dealing with chronic pain from my accident, I will not allow myself to become addicted to pills. Once you start using pain  and nerve medications, I think you are giving up hope of being able to make your body heal itself. 

The human body is a miraculous thing and if we treat it as such and feed it properly, it can heal and repair itself beyond our wildest dreams. If scientists can regenerate cells on their own with a chemical reaction in a dish, then you have to be aware of how much more powerful the body is. 

Throughout my journey doctors have been telling me that things are in my head. For 15 months after my accident, I was hit by a car while riding my bike, I walked around, tried to resume my life, and did physical therapy with bone on bone in my hip joint. From the impact of my hip on the ground, it shattered some bones and those fragments landed on my femur. The violence of the seat lodging where the sun don't shine tearing my hip labrum.  Eventually where my hip joint and femur were touching bone bumps developed.  Every step I took my hip joint and femur would grind against each other and my hip would try to go over where the bone bumps were, like it was off-roading on my femur. Doctors told me I wasn't really feeling that and it was something called Bursitis. I was injected 6 times into my bursa and it just landed me on crutches for a week after each injection. 

When you are going through test after test and Doctor after Doctor is telling you that you don't feel and hear a grinding with every step you take, you dig real deep to find the confidence and self reliance to fight on.  Your family and friends even doubting you because you look fine. You have to become the most honest version of yourself. You evaluate anything that causes you stress or could be toxic for you and you remove that from your life because you honestly don't have time for that bullshit.  This is your mental medicine. You're not taking a pill to eliminate the affects stress has on your symptoms. You're removing that actual cause of your stress and life becomes easier to handle. You find the truth in what really matters to you in this life because you want to live in heaven while dealing with pain not live in hell and try to be comfortable there. You find the simple joy in life and make that your heaven which leaves a lot of people, foods and behaviors in the dust. People feel hurt but you want to live in the truth to find solutions for your pain and if they don't live there too; it's toxic for you. 

I knew then and now, that if I took all the pills that they were pushing on me that I would never be able to solve the grinding. My left leg felt dead, it still does today and there was no way that they weren't missing something. I started to notice that my high protein diet was making me swell and stiff. I started reading more about holistic nutrition so I could still feel my body but reduce the pain and things that I could do naturally to combat my symptoms. If you use pharmaceuticals you can't feel and if you can't feel, you will never heal.  I decided to use marijuana for pain which makes life a lot slower and slightly more manageable. It's like living on the edge of bearable which is better than no relief. As I started to read about the affects of high protein diets and started to eliminate processed foods, dairy and limit my animal product intake. I was able to reduce some of the painful symptoms but was also able to feel my bodies issues a lot more. I was eliminating anything that could make me think I was feeling things I wasn't.  I took every tip to heart and followed every advice I was given.  Doctors wanting to continuously poke me with injections for false diagnosis. All the while still having major neck problems and nerve pains but my main focus was my hip. I knew there was something really wrong. 

Going back to a doctor who tells you that maybe things are in your head, is a very mentally challenging thing, especially when you're dealing with pain management without pharmaceuticals. Sometimes using them to give you a break for a day to do something you really want but only to have to go back to full pain the next day. I wouldn't say I found religion but I have definitely been directed to focus on the grace and divinity of my soul. You have to really learn how to perceive the world in a positive light; in spite of it. Focus on the good to drown out the bad, find your purpose and be willing to make an effort to make yourself live in that state. The true inner dialogue, the truth of who you are and what you want in life in order to overcome your reality to be strong and actually be and feel happiness while feeling pain. 

After 15 month of testing my doctor gives me my 6th injection into my bursa, a pocket along side the hip and says that it's time to remove my bursa because it's chronically inflamed and that's probably what's going on. This surgery would leave a large scar across my hip. Knowing this was wrong in my heart, I asked my dad to get me in to see another Orthopedist for a 5th opinion. 

This doctor listen to me. Months of what felt like screaming for anyone to believe me. He did. He did a diagnostic injection and ordered a contrast MRI from a different angle.  There it was. A fully torn labrum and bone on bone in my hip joint with the bone bumps. I wasn't crazy. It wasn't in my head. I cried. I never backed down. I may have had doubts. But I did everything I was suppose to do. Not just for my body but for my mind and my soul. I didn't do it the easy way and I finally got a break.  I needed major hip surgery. I actually had to have two hip surgeries within 7 months of each other. I've had to relearn how to walk and I'm actually still doing it. 

So, now back to my original question, when do we just give in and accept our reality of always living in pain.  I guess I just reminded myself that there's always a way to get to your next break and it's probably not going to be easy but it's definitely always going to get better.  If you take the pills they're shoving down your throat you take away your shot at actually getting better. 
Forcing myself to do physical therapy when I would rather be laying on the couch.
